Premium Jarrah Wood (Eucalyptus marginata)
Native exclusively to the iron-rich soils of Western Australia, Jarrah is a rare and highly sought-after hardwood known for its striking deep red to brown hues. This slow-growing timber is prized for its exceptional density, durability, and resistance to rot, termites, and fire, making it one of the toughest and longest-lasting woods available. Its tight, interlocked grain not only enhances strength but also produces a beautiful natural luster when finished. Due to its limited geographic range and superior properties, Jarrah remains a premium choice for high-quality craftsmanship that stands the test of time
Premium Tasmanian Oak (Eucalyptus regnans, Eucalyptus delegatensis, Eucalyptus obliqua)
Sourced from the cool, temperate forests of Tasmania and southeastern Australia, Tasmanian Oak is a premium hardwood prized for its versatility, strength, and elegant appearance. Despite its name, it isn’t a true oak but a collective term for three Eucalyptus species (Eucalyptus regnans, Eucalyptus delegatensis, and Eucalyptus obliqua), each contributing to its warm, honey-toned hues and distinctive grain patterns. This dense yet workable timber offers excellent stability, durability, and a smooth finish, making it a favorite for fine furniture and bespoke joinery. Its exclusivity to select Australian regions ensures that every piece carries the character and resilience of its natural environment
Meranti (Shorea spp.)
Originally native to the tropical rainforests of Southeast Asia, Meranti is a versatile hardwood prized for its warm tones, smooth grain, and excellent workability. With hues ranging from soft pinks to rich reddish-browns, this timber is valued for its natural beauty and ease of finishing.
At Deano Builds, we source our Meranti exclusively from sustainable plantations in Queensland, Australia, ensuring both high-quality craftsmanship and responsible forestry practices. Known for its strength-to-weight ratio, Meranti is durable yet lightweight, making it an ideal choice for fine woodworking. Its resistance to warping and ability to take finishes beautifully make it a staple material for enduring, thoughtfully crafted pieces.
Care Instructions for Your Wood Product
To ensure the longevity and beauty of your handcrafted wood piece, follow these simple care guidelines:
- Avoid soaking in water – Prolonged exposure to moisture can cause warping or damage.
- Clean gently – Wipe with a lightly damp cloth and dry immediately. For stubborn marks, use a mild soap, but avoid harsh chemicals.
- Do not place in the dishwasher – The intense heat and water exposure can weaken the wood and damage the finish.
- Keep out of direct sunlight – Prolonged UV exposure can cause fading, drying, or cracking over time.
- Maintain with food-safe oil – To nourish and protect the surface, periodically apply a food-safe oil (such as mineral oil or beeswax-based finishes) and buff gently.
With the right care, your wooden piece will age gracefully, developing a rich patina while maintaining its strength and beauty
